Только что обнаружила, что я, оказывается, и не знала толком разницы между словами among и between. Просто использовала их автоматически, не задумываясь. Не факт, конечно, что неправильно... :)
Итак,
among - "среди" - применяется в значении "в центре многих"
between - "между" - означает "в середине двух"
Какая-то едва уловимая разница, если честно. Может, лучше продолжать употреблять эти слова интуитивно? ;)

But you can't say "the difference among ...". There's a big difference BETWEEN "between" and "among" in this regard. =))
Besides, when you say "i'm among them", that just means there're many of them and there's you in the same place and at the same time. When you say "i'm between them", that additionally means they have divided into groups, for example - right and left or top and bottom, and you are on the way from one group to another group.
